Hello and welcome to a conversation with Jane Goodall, Director of  Gombe National Park in Tanzania.  Dr. Jane and her team have studied the chimpanzees in the park since 1960.  In addition, Jane Goodall has established Roots & Shoots, a global environmental and humanitarian program for youth.  According to the Roots & Shoots philosophy:  Every individual matters.  Every individual has a role to play.  Every individual can make a difference.

INTRODUCTORY COMMENTS FROM JANE GOODALL.
The human population is increasing all over the world at a terrifying rate.  Today's world population is more than 5.8 billion and increasing every 30 seconds.  It is possible, given the advances of modern agricultural technology, that we could feed double that amount.

But, do we want such a world?  And what would the impact be at the individual human level.  And what would the impact be  for the other amazing beings with whom we have to share the planet.

In an era that is described as the information age, exploding and imploding with the generation of information, how does the concerned citizen decide what to know, what to learn, what to do, what to avoid and what to forget.

I ask each of you to reach within yourself to find one thing that will daily help the winged ones, the finned ones, the two-legged ones and the four-legged ones to live a better life as we all prepare for the Spirit Century, the Year 2000.  I ask each of you to revisit this question so that we do not lose our spirit of healing.
